This is something I got but still haven't used... until today.
Isn't it sweet?! This lovely little hut was a gift from our friend Tanya. What you might not be able to tell from this pic is that it is actually a garden stake. The hut has been stashed in the garage for the last year... or has it been two? I think Tanya actually gave it to us the summer before we were wed. I wasn't hiding it away because I didn't like it, just the opposite actually, I was paranoid that it would be broken if I stuck it in the front garden and our backyard has not been the most inviting environment so I didn't want to waste it out there where nobody would enjoy it.
Yippee! Our yard had a makeover this weekend, I'll be posting more about that tomorrow, so when I was thinking about what to photograph for this is... today I figured the little hut was the perfect item! Thanks flossy p for coming up with a theme that reminded me of something I had hidden away waiting for the perfect moment to be revealed! The timing for this weeks theme couldn't have been any better.

Hey J!
Love the garden stake.
Tanya picks "cool" stuff doesn't she?
Can't wait to see the new yard!
Mom
WOW, I'm so glad I had a small part in you re-discovering this beautiful gift. What a gorgeous little garden hut. Is it made of wood? I can't tell, it's such an amazing suface it almost looks like wax in the photo.
Anyway, I'm so glad you're getting use out of it now. It looks like the perfect thing to top off a garden make-over.
The little hut is actually made of clay, but it has the most amazing finish on it so it is difficult to tell in the photo and from afar. :) Thanks again flossy-p for the theme.
Mom - you're right, she does pick the coolest things to gift! Now that I think of it I don't think the hut was for our wedding... it might have been an engagement gift. Hmmm. She gave us that beautiful antique shot glass carrier and the etched shot glasses for our wedding. Maybe we ended up with two wedding gifts from our fabulous friend? Tanya... are you out there? can you help me out with this one? :)
Wow. Perfect timing indeed.
Hope you are not too tired after the makeover.
That really is a pretty little item. I'm glad you can finally use it, and will let us see it in its new setting soon.
I'm honoured to be mentioned in your blog yet again! Yay me!
And yes, your first instincts were correct: it was an early wedding gift. I wanted to give it to you early so you could use it. Ha! So much for that. :)
Your photograph is awesome--you've got the mad artist skills going on there, lady!
xxx
Oh, and I wish I could remember the deal on the finish of the hut--the artist explained it to me, but I can't recall...sorry!
So I am not losing my mind?! Phew.
Thanks for clarifying T.
It really is a cool finish, interesting to hear what people think it's made of at first glance... wax, tin, wood.
I'm trying to get back into the land of photography, it's a hobby/skill I've let slip over the years but I figure this blog is a good place to showcase my return.
